So that the tradition of solo jazz piano is perpetuated, promising young players display their talent. The Competition is organised annually as part of the Montreux Jazz Festival. It affords a unique opportunity for young musicians to gain the recognition of an international audience of connoisseurs. The Competition takes place in one of Montreux's best-known hotels, the Montreux Palace. The peaceful atmosphere provides the perfect environment to appreciate the various performances. Shure Montreux Jazz Voice Competition with Universal Music This year, the Montreux Jazz Festival founds the Voice Competition in memory of the great jazz singers of the past. So that the tradition of singing is perpetuated, promising young vocalists to display their talent in front of an international jury and audience. The Competition is organised annually as part of the Montreux Jazz Festival. It affords a unique opportunity for young musicians to gain the recognition of an international audience of connoisseurs. White Foundation World Sax Competition - About the competition This is the second year that the White Foundation in association with the Montreux Jazz Festival hold the World Sax Competition in memory of the great saxophone players of the past and to encourage the stars of the future. The saxophone is synonymous with jazz, and the competition aims to give young players an opportunity to display their talent to an international audience, gaining recognition and enhancing their careers. The competition semi-finals and final take place during the last week of the Montreux Jazz Festival from Tuesday 15th to Friday 18th July 2003 in Montreux, Switzerland. The competition is open to everyone born after January 1st 1973 and who are pursuing a professional career and are not signed to a major label. The competition is organised annually and offers a unique opportunity for young saxophonists to meet other talented artists and respected jurists at one of the worlds most celebrated jazz festivals. The competition takes place in the beautiful Montreux Palace hotel overlooking Lake Geneva and the magnificent Alps. The competition is held thanks to a special partnership between the organisers of the world famous Montreux Jazz Festival and the Jeremy & Kim White Foundation dedicated to supporting the performing arts.
